Hertfordshire, 1813. Mrs Bennet has five daughters and one urgent project: getting them
married. When the wealthy Mr Bingley takes the neighbouring estate — and brings his even
wealthier friend Mr Darcy with him — every assembly room and drawing-room in the county
becomes a battlefield of glances, misreadings, and the kind of conversation that means
twice what it says.
Our Elizabeth is sharper than she should be, our Darcy worse at small talk than he
thinks, and our Mr Collins is exactly as bad as you remember. The novel runs at three
times speed. The heart of it does not.
Adapted from the novel by Jane Austen. A remount of the production that started this theatre company, driven by popular demand from the audience. This year’s production is bigger, brighter and bolder. The revised script introduces two more characters and added and extended scenes. We’ve got several new cast members, creative changes from a co-director, new costumes, more decor, and more elaborate lighting and sound. All of this in a beautifully renovated Pand P.
